Alan Gen Li

Ph.D. Student

Alan is a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University in the City of New York. He is currently a Belgian American Educational Foundation fellow at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. In 2023 he will be a Chateaubriand STEM fellow at CentraleSupélec, Université Paris-Saclay, France. He is from Germantown, MD. He received his BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering degree from University College London (UCL), UK, in 2019, and joined Columbia later that year.

His research interests include power electronics and control techniques for optimizing energy storage technologies: battery management systems, battery diagnostics using machine learning, and the integration of renewable energy into the grid and islanded systems.
