Manfredi Gangi

Ph.D. Student

Manfredi is a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Catania, which he earned in 2020. In 2023, he completed his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. During his master's studies, Manfredi was actively involved in the Physis PEB (POLIMI Energy Boat Team), contributing to their participation in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. He played a significant role in the construction of a zero-emission hybrid propelled catamaran dealing with the energy sources and electrical safety. During his master’s thesis, Manfredi worked as a Visiting Student at the MIT Senseable City Lab, where he focused on investigating the impact of thermal storage for urban development. Manfredi's roots lie in Catania, Italy, where he was born and raised.

His primary research interests include battery management, power electronics and energy storage systems.
